You may have noticed a Person ID or Tahoe ID listed in your search history. This article explains what it is and how to use it.
When you run a premium people search, the bottom of the first column contains a long number that starts with a G. This is the Person ID.
A Person ID (also referred to as a Tahoe ID), can be thought of as being like a Tracers' social security number. Our site uses Smart Search technology to take billions of records from thousands of sources and links matching records to a Person ID. Every individual on Tracers has a unique Person ID.
You can copy and paste the Person ID as the sole search criteria on almost any search to return information back on that individual.
Similarly, when you click on a hyperlink within your search, such as with the indicators, or when you run a Comprehensive Person Report, it will run by the Person ID. The records returned in these searches can match by the subject's name, or other observed name(s), and addresses.
When you run a search by using a hyperlink in another search, it will show in your search history listing the Tahoe ID (Person ID) as the search parameters.
***Please Note: Matching records by Person ID is meant to be a time-saver, quickly giving you records for your subject. However, please keep in mind, it is artificial intelligence and not an exact science.
- Some records may not contain enough information to match it to your subject's Person ID. In those cases, you may want to run the individual search from the search dashboard home page, instead of using a quick link from your people search or running a Comprehensive Person Report. Run the standalone search by name only, to check for all possible records. Especially in regards to criminal records, more jurisdictions seem to be removing personally identifiable information, like social security numbers, dates of birth, and address information, for the sake of the individual's privacy. - Some individuals may be split into more than one Person ID. Please check the indicator section to see which Person ID has records attached before running a Comprehensive Person Report.
- Sometimes relatives, especially those that have similar names and shared address history, may be mixed into one Person ID and listed under "Other Observed Names." It is necessary to perform due diligence with any records obtained through a database to verify the information returned.
